We will also compare these <br />results to those from the aerial photograph review as well as the <br />(continued) literature review. Geologic mapping will likely occur in the initial <br />site assessment as well as after review of borings to compare the <br />information observed in the borings with previous site information. <br />The information gathered from this study will be presented on a <br />geotechnical map for review. <br />LGC will retain a bull dozer and operator to create haul roads and <br />drilling pads for proposed boring locations. - LGC will utilize a track- <br />mounted drill rig to access difficult to reach places in order to limit <br />the construction of haul roads. However, track-mounted rigs have <br />limitations with respect to drilling depth and thus will not be used in <br />many places across the site. The minimum amount of earthwork will <br />be performed in order to create safe roads and pads. <br />1 Excavate, log and sample 13 large-diameter borings with both a <br />truck mounted and a track-mounted auger rig that gets into difficult <br />to reach locations. Borings will be advanced to depths ranging <br />from approximately 70 to 100 feet below the ground surface. <br />Relatively undisturbed ring and bulk soil samples will be obtained <br />for geotechnical testing. Subsequently, the borings will be downhole <br />logged by geologists of the firm to ascertain the existing geological <br />conditions at the site for the overall large landslide complex and for <br />localized areas with design cut/fill slopes. Also, the groundwater <br />level will be documented, if encountered. It is also anticipated that <br />the 2nd Party Consultant will also downhole log all of these borings. <br />.After drilling, logging,. and sampling, borings will be backfilled with <br />drilling cuttings,The large diameter borings will help in determining <br />geologic structure at the site, provide the option of collecting samples <br />at select locations and provide crucial data for the final slope stability <br />evaluation for the site. <br />LGC recommends the excavation, logging and sampling of <br />approximately 11 exploratory small -diameter borings. Borings will <br />be advanced to depths of approximately 30 to 50 feet below existing. <br />grades, or to refusal, whichever is shallower, with a truck -mounted, <br />flight -auger drill rig. Relatively undisturbed ring, SPT, and bulk <br />soil samples will be obtained for geotechnical testing. Driving blow <br />counts and the subsurface conditions encountered in the explorations <br />will be recorded by our field personnel. We do not anticipate the 2nd <br />Party Consultant spending time in the field for this portion of work. <br />After drilling, logging, and sampling, borings will be backfilled with <br />drilling cuttings.
