Westlake portion of Thousand .Oaks has:. <br />5. Truinfo Community Park <br />developed in 1972 <br />6. Lang Ranch Community Park and Community Center pending <br />Since the earliest planning stages for the development of the Master Planned Lang <br />Ranch. Community over 30 years ago, a community park has been planned to support <br />active as well as passive recreational activities. The property for the Lang Ranch <br />Community Park, originally identified as Oakbrook Community Park in the specific plan <br />for Lang Ranch, was dedicated to the Conejo Recreation and Park District in 1993. <br />Beginning in 2002, District staff worked with .a consultant, residents and an assembled <br />focus group to develop the Lang Ranch Community Park MasterPlan_ . Additionally, the <br />District began the environmental review (CEQA) process in 2004. <br />On June 5, 2008, the Board. certified the Final Environmental Impact Report, approved- a <br />reduced scope Master Plan (attached), and authorized staff to begin the design <br />development process including, the preparation and- circulation of a - Request for. <br />Proposals for design services. <br />Design Development Request for Qualifications/Proposals Process <br />In order to Process,. review, and select a °highly qualified- design firm at a reasonable fee, <br />staff decided on a two step RFOIP process would be most effective. Furthermore, staff <br />included representatives from,th.e City of Thousand Oaks Public Works and Community <br />Development departments on the committee to review, evaluate, interview and select a <br />design firm, additionally, Board Members Gibson and Short participated:tn.the interview <br />and selection process. <br />Request for Qualificatlons <br />Initially, a notice requesting qualifications to potential proposers was advertised in the <br />"Ventura County Star' for seven days- beginning. October 6, 2008. From that effort, <br />twenty one potential design firm's submitted qualifications. based on the criteria set, <br />forth in. the Request for Qualifications, the. evaluation committee selected the top six <br />qualified design firms to continue to the proposal step of the process. - <br />Request for Proposals <br />A pre -proposal meeting was at the .site on December 19, 2008 with all six design firms <br />attending.
