Each ISD can nominate only one individual to run for <br />the positions to be filled at each election. <br />The LAFCO Executive Officer and the Secretary/Recording <br />Officer of the ISD Selection Committee or his/her designee <br />shall prepare a slate of nominees for submittal to the ISD's for <br />election by mail as described below. Nominations received <br />after the specified deadline willbe deemed invalid. <br />A form of mail ballot containing all accepted mailed <br />nominations for positions to be filled at the election shall be <br />distributed by certified mail to each Ventura County ISD no <br />later than 45 days prior to the scheduled election. An affidavit <br />signed by the responsible staff member stating that all ISD's <br />were sent a ballot shall be fled with the election information. <br />Said mail ballot shall indicate that each ISD shall return the <br />Board Resolution ballot by certified mail to the principal <br />business address of the Ventura County LAFCO and that only <br />those ballots received prior to the close of business on the <br />election date shall be considered valid and counted. Ballots <br />received after the specified deadline will not be counted. All <br />ballots shall remain sealed until opened in the presence of the <br />LAFCO Executive Officer and the Secretary/Recording <br />Officer of the ISD Selection Committee or his/her designee. <br />The results of the election shall be available within 7 days of <br />the election date. The election results shall be certified by the <br />LAFCO Executive Officer and the Secretary/Recording <br />Officer or his/her designee and a copy sent by certified mail to <br />each ISD in Ventura County. <br />This time frame for the holding of elections for ISD <br />commissioners shall be used where the normal expiration of <br />the term of office occurs. When it is necessary to fill a position <br />when there is term of office remaining, the LAFCO Executive <br />Officer may condense the time frame of election to 60 days to <br />2 <br />
