September 5, 2013 <br />Page 5 <br />Hare reported the solar carport construction started this week at Borchard <br />Community Center and Dos Vientos Community Center. Similar work will <br />commence at Thousand Oaks Community Center and Conejo Creek South within a <br />few weeks. The CRPD Mobile App went live a week and a half ago; as of August <br />22"d there were 151 downloads. Photo contest tally sheets are due tonight. On <br />Sept. 301h an Outreach Meeting will be held -- for both dog owners and non -dog <br />owners -- on how to better serve the dog community. The ribbon cutting for the <br />Snack Shack/Community Room at Conejo Creek South will be held this Saturday at <br />noon. A Kiwanis Pancake Breakfast will precede it from 7:30 to 10:30 am. <br />S. 'recreation Division Report <br />Lindsey referenced Recreation Highlights and the fall special event flyer. This <br />evening, Board members received an invitation to the Thousand Oaks Arts Festival <br />VIP Reception. Additionally, Board members have been given new CRPD shirts; <br />hats will be distributed at the next meeting. Attendance at the summer Concerts in <br />the Park was record-setting; 12,000 last year vs. 17,000+ this year. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda reported external auditors will be at the District next week. If they haven't <br />already done so, Board members are asked to please complete and send in their <br />audit confirmation letters. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl referenced a letter sent to Senator Hill at the State Capitol last week opposing <br />Senate Bill 594; related to campaign advocacy by nonprofit associations that receive <br />funding from local public agencies. Friedl will be attending the CSDA conference in <br />Monterey the week of Sept. 14th. There is a need for a closed session this evening <br />with no announcement anticipated. <br />Jones asked for follow-up information regarding the fireworks incidents in Simi Valley <br />and Ojai this past July 4th; Friedl will provide when the findings become available. <br />Gibson reported on the upcoming AWA Elected Official Night at the Reagan Library <br />on September 26th; California Secretary for Natural Resources John Laird will be the <br />keynote speaker. It was suggested the September 26th Board meeting be cancelled <br />so as to allow all Board members to attend this event in its entirety. All Board <br />members are in accord with this action. Friedl will advise. <br />
