RESOLUTION ON 071615-A <br />A RESOLUTION OF THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />OF THE CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />AUTHORIZING GENERAL MANAGER TO EXECUTE <br />VENTURA COUNTY AREA AGENCY ON AGING <br />AGREEMENT FOR THE PURCHASE OF SERVICES <br />(Senior Nutrition Program at Goebel Adult Center in Thousand Oaks) <br />WHEREAS, the County of Ventura Human Services Agency ran the Senior Nutrition Program at <br />the original Goebel Senior Center 110 S. Conejo School Road from 1974 until the fall of 1991, and <br />WHEREAS, the County of Ventura Human Services Agency continued to run the Senior Nutrition <br />Program at the current Goebel Senior Center at 1385 E. Janss Road when this new community center <br />was opened to the public fall 1991, and <br />WHEREAS, the City of Thousand Oaks took over the Senior Nutrition Grant Program April 1, <br />2005 and ran it until June 30, 2010 at Goebel Senior Center, 1385 E. Janss Road, and <br />WHEREAS, the Conejo Recreation and Park District took over the Senior Nutrition Grant program <br />July 1, 2010 at Goebel Senior Center, 1385 E. Janss Road, and <br />WHEREAS, the Conejo Recreation and Park District staff were interested in creating a <br />restaurant/cafe-style food service to better serve senior patrons. Meetings were established with senior <br />leaders from Council on Aging, Goebel Senior Center Commission and Conejo Senior Volunteer <br />Program and, <br />WHEREAS, senior leaders embraced the vision of creating a warm, inviting dining hall with <br />quality, affordable, freshly prepared food, and extended hours of service all of which would further enrich <br />the Goebel experience and contribute to more socialization opportunities and, <br />WHEREAS, staff took a plan of action which included terminating the current grant relationship <br />with Ventura County Area Agency on Aging to the Conejo Recreation and Park District Board February <br />19, 2015 and, <br />WHEREAS, the Conejo Recreation and Park District Board of Directors directed staff to continue <br />with the vision of improved and expanded food service, but to incorporate Senior Nutrition Program as a <br />part of the plan and, <br />WHEREAS, the Conejo Recreation and Park District staff took this project information to the <br />Goebel Senior Center Commission March 25, 2015 and the Goebel Senior Center Commission pledged <br />support to the project and $10,000 to the dining hall renovation and, <br />WHEREAS, the Conejo Recreation and Park District staff conducted several meetings with a <br />private restaurant vendor and Senior Nutrition Program/Ventura Area Agency on Aging staff to further <br />research options.
