WHEREAS, the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging discovered a program in Des Plaines, Illinois called the Cumberland Cafe; this program combines a cafe and a senior nutrition program. Ventura County Area Agency on Aging recommended modeling our program after this and, WHEREAS, the Conejo Recreation and Park District staff took this new information to the Conejo Recreation & Park District Board and presented the idea of a continued Senior Nutrition Program but with a vendor relationship rather than a grant relationship with Ventura County Area Agency on Aging on May 21, 2015 and, WHEREAS, the Conejo Recreation and Park District staff also took this new information to the Goebel Senior Center Commission for a cafe operation update on May 27, 2015 and, WHEREAS, the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging has worked cooperatively with the Conejo Recreation and Park District to facilitate this transition from a grant relationship to having the Park District operate the Senior Nutrition Program in a "Vendor" relationship and, WHEREAS, the Park District intends to work with a chef to create an improved dining hall inside the Goebel Adult Community Center with a wider range of quality meal options, extended hours of service, while continuing to provide nutritious meals to all those eligible for the Senior Nutrition Program. NOW, THEREFORE, the Board of Directors of the Conejo Recreation and Park District does hereby: 1. Approves the Ventura County Area Agency on Aging Agreement for the Purchase of Services (attached). 2. Authorizes the General Manager to execute the attached vendor agreement, amendments thereto, and any other document necessary to effectuate the purposes of this agreement.
