November 20, 1997
Page 3
B. Authorization To Enter Into A Contract With Pacific Floor Company For
Borchard Community Center Gym Floor Refinishing
Sorensen stated that, depending on usage, floor refinishing is typically
needed every five to eight years; he expects that the floor will need to be
replaced in ten years, and, learning from the refinishing done at Thousand
Oaks Center last year, a double coat of sealer and a less slippery finish will
be applied.
In response to Jacobsen's inquiry, Washington explained that athletic
activities are less detrimental to a floor finish than dancing, and it's beneficial
to keep the floor clean.
It was moved by Lange, seconded by Halt, and carried 4-0 to authorize
staff to enter into a contract with Pacific Floor Company in the amount
of $12,465.00 and a contingency amount of $500.00. Funds shall be
taken from the Capital Improvement account for Borchard Park #13-20-
710-7426-98-5733-4510.
9. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION
None
10. REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS
A. Activity And Attendance Report
In response to Lange's inquiry, Washington explained that similar attendance
figures for the portable skate board facility have been reported at Borchard
and Thousand Oaks Community Centers, and the Teen Center, and about
half of the youngsters are new users of the facility.
In response to Jacobsen's inquiry, Washington said that no formal evaluation
process has yet been undertaken with the youngsters using the skate board
facility.
B.
