Directors' Reports
Lange discussed VCSDA's (Ventura County Special Districts Association)
goal of increasing public awareness of special districts and the organization's
anticipated participation in the Ventura County 1998 Fair, with a booth. He
requested Board member support of that effort. Holt further discussed the
endeavor, and asked if employee involvement would be appropriate. Ward
said that employee involvement would take away from the performance of
normal duties. Jacobsen said he would be willing to volunteer, but would be
reluctant to use staff for such a purpose.
Gillette identified and described an equestrian signage problem at Lynn
Road and Highway 101, Gilmore discussed the issues, problems, and
organizations involved. Gillette suggested that new signage would be an
appropriate response to the problem.
12. REQUEST FOR STATUS REPORTS AND ITEMS FOR SUBSEQUENT
AGENDAS
13. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC
Donna Ward, of Thousand Oaks, stated that ETI has presented some very
successful horse shows at the Waverly site. She suggested that the District
consider sponsoring such equestrian events as a component of its sports program.
She described such events and said that such an endeavor could be a profitable
venture.
Holt said that she would like to see the District explore the issue, and agreed that
equestrian activities are a sport.
