Minutes 12-19-95 <br />Page 4 <br />Rosemary Turk, of Westlake Village, spoke in opposition <br />to the Triunfo Park site, and cited current problems of <br />unleashed dogs in the park. <br />Marcia Spater, of Westlake Village, identified concerns <br />about dogs jumping over a fenced enclosure, odor, noise, <br />and insects, and said that Triunfo Park is too small to <br />accommodate a "dog park" facility. <br />Debby Carloni, of Thousand Oaks, spoke in support of <br />removing Triunfo Park from consideration as a site for <br />the "dog park", and urged using another site for the <br />facility. She said that the initial fund raising event <br />of the Park and Bark group was held in September, the <br />number of those attending the event may not correlate to <br />the number who would use the "dog park", a "dog park" <br />facility would offer recreation activities to another <br />segment of the community, and the Bark and Park group <br />wants to work with the District to establish such a <br />facility. <br />Jonni Savenick, of Westlake Village, said she spoke on <br />behalf of her deceased dog. She said that in the past, <br />due to medical problems, she has unleashed her dog and <br />she asked that a "dog park" be located near Village <br />Homes. <br />Pamela Barlow, of Westlake Village, said that she <br />supports a leash free "dog park" in Conejo Valley, she <br />is pleased with the interest shown, and the local <br />homeowners associations do not necessarily reflect <br />everyone's view. She urged further research, which would <br />include Triunfo Park, and she offered to share <br />educational information. <br />Bill Froehlich, of Westlake Village, thanked Sorensen and <br />praised the park system in Conejo Valley. He said he <br />supports an enclosed dog run in Conejo Valley to be <br />located in a more appropriate area, and more than one dog <br />run is needed. <br />Lawrence Schalf, of Westlake Village, said he spoke on <br />behalf of his dog. He said he supports a "dog park" in <br />another area, and unused areas of a park can attract <br />undesirable people and misuse of the park. <br />Jack Sweeney, of Westlake Village, spoke in support of <br />a leash free "dog park" and the use of Triunfo Park as <br />a site. <br />
