DEFERRED MATTERS
A. Public Hearing Fiscal Year 1996-1997 Budget
Adoption Of Proposed Final 1996-1997 Budget, Resolution
Number 080896-A
Gillette declared the public hearing open, and, as no one
was in attendance who wished to address the Board, the
public hearing was closed.
Ward stated that staff recommendation is to adopt the
budget; the budget is again balanced; revenues are weak,
due principally to the tax shift; and the increase of
some fees and charges and the carryover savings from last
year have helped balance the budget. He referenced the
staff report, thanked the administrators and staff for
their fiscal responsibility and budgetary efforts, and
invited questions.
It was moved by Berger and seconded by Lange to adopt
Resolution Number 080896-A, a resolution approving the
1996-1997 budget, and that it be read in title only and
all further readings be waived.
Lange commended the General Manager's leadership and the
District's foresight and prudent fiscal approach.
On behalf of the Board, Gillette expressed appreciation
to the General Manager, senior management, and all
District employees for their fiscal tenacity and
resolution during this difficult time of diminishing
financial resources. Ward identified the budget summary
handout.
The motion carried unanimously, 5-0.
In response to Jacobsen's request and with Gillette's
concurrence, Sorensen said that staff would prepare a
quarterly status report of all capital improvement
projects.
