Minutes 6-27-96 Page 5 Grahame Watts, representing Conejo Soccer Club, stated his appreciation for the inclusion of a full size soccer field, lighting, and staff responsiveness. He suggested that future meetings be held to discuss field scheduling strategies to avoid conflicts, and he offered his organization's assistance. Al Tafoya, President of Tri -County Soccer League, said that the league is expanding, competition for fields is growing, the planned lighting and storage is appreciated, and he stated his support for the plan. In response to Berger's inquiry, Washington said that the curfew for lighting is usually 10 p.m. Ekbal Quidwai, of Newbury Park, urged expediting the project, and stated his concern about the adequacy of the facility at community build out. He said that a teen center is needed Newbury Park. Gillette noted that all centers have teen programing. Jack Short said that he approves of the park plan, but he is concerned about an eventual traffic problem, relative to the phasing of the Dos Vientos development, and he urged that this problem be addressed. As there was no one else wishing to address the Board, Gillette closed the public hearing. Jacobsen and Ward commended the Operating Engineers and Courtly Homes for their proactive approach and cooperation. Berger thanked all those involved in the project for their cooperation. It was moved by Berger and seconded by Holt to approve the Master Plan for Park Site A, Dos Vientos Community Park. Gillette said he was delighted with the new park for the Newbury Park community. He said this was the second recent facility addition for Newbury Park, and he noted the gateway park at Borchard Road and Michael Drive. Gillette urged that interested people continue to be involved and give their inputs. The motion carried unanimously. Gillette adjourned the meeting at 9:23 p.m. and reconvened at 9:30 p.m.
