Public Hearing - Dos Vientos Community Park Site Master <br />Plan <br />Gillette declared the public hearing open. <br />Ward presented an overview of site milestones, and <br />Gilmore noted the presence of representatives of <br />Operating Engineers, VTN Engineering, and Newman Design <br />Group. <br />Lee Newman described architectural characteristics and <br />landscape features of Park Site A. <br />Gilmore further identified site and plan characteristics <br />including wildlife corridors, parking spaces, playfields, <br />nature trails, open space, and the recreation building. <br />He answered questions. In response to Board inquiries, <br />he indicated that park lighting is planned, ADA <br />(Americans with Disabilities Act) requirements are being <br />considered in the park design, the design of the <br />recreation building has not yet been refined, and storage <br />capabilities have been designed in the facility. <br />Jacobsen urged that thought be given at this time to a <br />design option that would facilitate indoor basketball <br />facilities in the recreation building. <br />Gillette said that building a park in advance of the <br />community is highly desirable, and Ward said that effort <br />has been made to buffer the site from the surrounding <br />neighborhood. <br />Michael Markey, of Newbury Park, thanked staff for its <br />efforts and expeditious approach; he said that escrow <br />papers will identify lighting as one of the park <br />elements; and he discussed the park plan and stated his <br />support. <br />Mike Harrison, representing Newbury Park Pony Baseball, <br />spoke in support of the plan and its proposed baseball <br />facilities. <br />Jesse Cox, representing Newbury Park Pony Baseball, spoke <br />in support of the plan, and its proposed baseball <br />facilities. <br />
