Minutes 3-7-95 <br />Page 3 <br />Steve Cook, representing Keep Parks Public, a coalition group, <br />endorsed the current flexibility of the park site and its <br />programs, and urged continuance of same. He pledged his <br />groups's help and cited noise, traffic, crime, pollution, and <br />loss of open space as a consequence of the Sport X project. <br />James T. Aidukas referenced his recent communication, and said <br />that he was concerned about the negative environmental impact <br />of the Sport X project, including traffic and noise, plus the <br />resultant rezoning of the area that would ensue. He said that <br />numerous community groups are forming to fight the proposed <br />project. <br />Dave Anderson noted the strong negative public response to the <br />proposed Sport X project, and he urged community agencies to <br />unite to buy the property. He said that the park belongs to <br />the public, and urged that it remain so. <br />Carol Gill said that the property should remain available for <br />the children's use, and she asked if any funding is available <br />for minimal park improvements now or in the future. <br />Carol Wisniewski congratulated the District for providing <br />facilities and programs for the community. She said that the <br />opportunity to donate plants and trees to parks in memory or <br />recognition of loved ones should be promoted. She said that <br />the community is in opposition to the proposed Sport X <br />project, and urged that the District listen to the community. <br />Sharon Noel indicated that Dave Gulbranson's claims are <br />fabrications of the truth and cited examples. <br />Joel Wyenn thanked Ward and Sorensen for their accessibility. <br />He said that his observations, based on his extensive <br />community involvement, indicate that the community is opposed <br />to the Sport X project. He said that the community would like <br />to see a directed and permanent use of the site as it is <br />currently, and the Waverly Park area become a permanent <br />equestrian site, funded through community use. He praised the <br />quality of life in the community, and said he does not want <br />to see that lost. <br />
