Minutes 2-15-95 <br />Page 5 <br />He noted that copies of all faxes and letters received, <br />relative to Sport X, have been distributed to the Board, <br />and copies of future correspondence will be distributed <br />as well, and he said that draft elements of the City of <br />Thousand Oaks General Plan, including the Open Space, <br />Conservation, and Safety Elements have also been <br />included, plus an invitation from the mayor for a Council <br />workshop on February 27. <br />Concluding, he said that he will attend a meeting of the <br />CARPD Legislative Committee February 21 and 22 in <br />Sacramento, and, at present, there are no onerous fiscal <br />bills pending. He noted a pending bill for term limits <br />applicable at the local level. <br />E. Directors' Reports <br />Berger suggested consideration be given to establishing <br />a scholarship for children of District employees. <br />Gillette said that the subject should be agendized for <br />a future meeting. Ward suggested it initially be a <br />discussion item. <br />Jacobsen reported that the recent Celebrate the Family <br />program was very successful, and he expressed <br />appreciation for numerous contributions received, <br />including the generous contribution from California <br />Lutheran University. <br />Gillette recognized the probable upcoming opportunities <br />and needs for portable program space, and the <br />desirability of a portable facility. Concluding, he said <br />that, in an effort to revitalize the Triunfo Ball, <br />comments and suggestions are being sought and the <br />possibility of relocating the event is being discussed. <br />In response to Berger's inquiry, Ward explained that a <br />summer program for Westlake Village is planned under <br />contract, but no programs at local school sites are under <br />consideration. <br />12. REQUEST FOR STATUS REPORTS AND ITEMS FOR SUBSEQUENT AGENDAS <br />Lange requested that the topic of the Gregor Mendel Foundation <br />and its financial relationship with the District be agendized. <br />
