April 2, 1998 <br />Page 7 <br />10. REPORTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS <br />A. Goebel Senior Center Commission Minutes - February 23, 1998 - No <br />Comment <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Park Division Report <br />Sorensen reported that the Westlake Hills Homeowners Association <br />presented a $4,000 check for lighting upgrades on a portion of the access <br />strips adjacent to Russell Park, and the District is responsible for installation <br />and utility costs. Additionally, he said that they have contributed financial <br />support for weed abatement and other costs. <br />Continuing, he said that he attended the Central Thousand Oaks <br />Homeowners Association regarding the possible placement of a dog park in <br />Conejo Community Park, although some individual board members <br />expressed opposition to the proposal, to his knowledge, the association <br />board has not yet taken a position, and a community workshop will be <br />scheduled to determine the community's position. <br />Concluding, he said that Lang Ranch has agreed to fund 50 percent of the <br />cost of the May 16 dedication of the Lang Ranch Neighborhood Park site, <br />and the Conejo Creek Master Pian meeting has been rescheduled to April <br />13. <br />In response to Holt's inquiry, Sorensen explained that during a community <br />outreach effort, a formai notice is sent to all residences within 300 feet of <br />the park perimeter, a press release is issued, and information is sent to <br />those who have expressed an interested. Gillette said that, hopefully, the <br />association board will wait to express an opinion until after the public <br />discussion. <br />In response to Jacobsen's inquiry, Sorensen said that the Dos Vientos <br />groundbreaking has not yet been scheduled. <br />
