April 2, 1998
Page 5
D. Authorization To Award Audit Contract To Moss, Levy & Hartheim
Jorgensen invited questions
It was moved by Gillette and seconded by Berger to award a five-year
audit contract to the firm of Moss, Levy & Hartzheim.
In response to Jacobsen's inquiry, Jorgensen said that it is standard to
rebid a contract every five years. Gillette said that it is a consensus among
business professionals that a long-term audit relationship is advantageous
to the auditee. Jorgensen said that only three firms out of 53 responded to
the RFP, after discussion, it was decided not to send out a joint bid package
with the City, and the fee quoted by Moss, Levy & Hartzheim is excellent.
The motion carried 5-0.
E. Consideration Of Sale Of Advertisements In Quarterly Program
Brochure
Washington referenced the Board directive to research the feasibility of
selling advertisements on the back cover of the quarterly brochure, he
identified and discussed the three options identified by staff, and analyzed
the financial considerations.
Holt said that she supported staff recommendation. Gillette expressed
disappointment and surprise at the projected limited financial advantage of
selling advertisements on the back cover of the brochure, and he said he is
satisfied that no more staff time should be invested in the project.
It was moved by Berger, seconded by Gillette, and carried 5-0 to
approve option #3; i.e., to continue to provide the back cover of the
quarterly program brochure for advertising District programs.
In order to provide time for Board member; to familiarize themselves with
relevant material, Lange adjourned the meeting at 9:00 p.m. and
reconvened at 9:10 p.m.
