Authorization To Amend Custodial Contract With Excellent Building
Maintenance Inc.
Sorensen referenced the previously awarded contract with Excellent
Building Maintenance Inc.; contrasted it, relative to cost and supplies, with
the same contractor's alternative 2A bid; noted that, with supplies provided,
the alternate would result in an annual savings of $1,384 for the District,
and said that the contractor is prepared to execute the contract
immediately.
It was moved by Holt, seconded by Berger, and carried 5-0 to approve
amending the contract with Excellent Building Maintenance Inc. of
Newbury Park for custodial services to reflect seven day service with
supplies, in the amount of $72,780.
8. NEW ITEMS
A. Authorization To Reject Bids On Newbury Gateway Park Play
Equipment And Readvertise To Include Additional Equipment For
Wildwood And Old Meadows Neighborhood Parks
Sorensen explained that an expenditure was authorized for the purchase of
play equipment park amenities for Newbury Gateway Park, Old Meadows
and Wildwood Neighborhood Parks. He said that it is now possible to
consolidate all three projects into one bid package, while fulfilling the
schedule requirements of Newbury Gateway Park, and he recommended
rejecting all bids for Newbury Gateway Park and readvertising the
consolidated bid package. He said that the vendors are satisfied with a
consolidated bid opportunity.
In response to Board inquiries, Sorensen explained that play equipment
quality is evaluated, but such an evaluation is somewhat subjective; the
equipment on display at the recent CPRS conference did not meet the
specific needs of the District; recreation and park staff frequently work
together with interested individuals and groups to determine which
equipment best meets the needs of the intended users; most manufacturers
provide similar design and liability warranties; and no projects are expected
to be delayed by the proposed consolidated bid package.
