May 18, 2000 <br />Page 4 <br />C. Authorization To Award Contract To Classic Roofing Company, Inc. In <br />Amount Of $39,338, With A 10 Percent Contingency, For Roof <br />Replacement At Conejo Community Center <br />Sorensen reviewed the bid process, identified the low bidder as Classic <br />Roofing Company of Moorpark, and stated that Classic Roofing has been <br />previously contracted for roof work at both Banyan and Wildwood <br />Neighborhood Parks, and is considered to be an excellent firm, and all <br />bonding and insurance requirements have been secured. <br />In response to L.ange's inquiry, Sorensen said that the roofing will be <br />asphalt shingle. <br />It was moved by Gibson, seconded by Jacobsen, and carried 5-0, to <br />authorize the General Manager to award a contract in care of Classic <br />Roofing Company, Inc. in the amount of $39,338.00, and a 10 percent <br />contingency amount of $3,934.00, for the roof replacement at Conejo <br />Community Center. <br />D. Approval Of Agreement with City Of Thousand Oaks And Conejo <br />Valley Unified School District For Funding Of Youth Outreach Program <br />Benton reviewed the agreement, and said that the Conejo Valley Unified <br />School District has agreed to consider the renewal of its participation in the <br />Youth Outreach Program, the agreement is automatically renewable each <br />fiscal year, and $40,000 represents a one-third share of the projected cost <br />of the program. <br />In response to Jacobsen's inquiries, Benton said that the addition of a third <br />Outreach worker could be considered, 90 percent of program emphasis will <br />be on middle schools; students, staff, principals, counselors, and the <br />agencies involved are all enthusiastic and supportive of the program. <br />Berger spoke of the very positive impact of the program on middle schools, <br />and he stated his support of the program. <br />It was moved by Lange, seconded by Jacobsen, and carried 5-0 to <br />approve the submitted agreement involving the City of Thousand <br />Oaks, Conejo Recreation and Park District and the Conejo Valley <br />Unified School District for the Youth Outreach Program, effective July <br />1, 2000. <br />
