Warrants, Exhibits A - E, Total $298,322.88 <br />It was moved by Lange, seconded by Jacobsen, and carried 4-0, to <br />approve the Consent Calendar as presented. <br />7. DEFERRED MATTERS <br />None <br />8. NEW ITEMS <br />A. Conceptual Approval Of Therapeutic Equestrian Uses For Lot 39A, <br />And Authorization To Prepare A Memorandum Of Understanding <br />Sorensen reviewed past relevant Board action, site features and ownership, <br />Development Permit and zoning conditions, and proposed use of the parcel <br />by Ride On, a nonprofit corporation specializing in therapeutic <br />horsemanship. He said that current discussions have focused upon a <br />cooperative effort involving the District's Therapeutic Recreation Unit and <br />Ride On, and Ride On is prepared to completely fund the operation of the <br />site within six to nine months. He noted the presence of Bryan <br />McQueeney, co-founder of Ride On, Merja Reed, of the Therapeutic <br />Advisory Council, and Jim Rochford, president of Equestrian Trails <br />Incorporated (ETI). <br />A video was presented promoting the benefits of therapeutic horseback <br />riding. <br />Bryan McQueeney discussed the Riae tin program, budget, funding, <br />staffing, program goals, risk management and insurance considerations. <br />He expressed enthusiastic support for the proposed cooperative effort with <br />the District, and discussed plans for the satellite site in Conejo Valley. <br />
