Status Report For 1999-2000 Capital Improvement Projects <br />Sorensen referenced the documentation, and reviewed the status of <br />current, major Capital Improvement Projects including Rancho Conejo <br />Playfield, Estella Park, Conejo Creek Northwest Quadrant, Kimber Park, <br />Dos Vientos Community Park, Borchard Park parking lot, and Oakbrook <br />Neighborhood Park. <br />Regarding Rancho Conejo Playfield, he stated that the construction of <br />Phases 2 and 3 are underway, the Board of Newbury Park Girls Softball <br />has decided to forgo financial participation, and consequently a funding <br />shortfall of approximately $32,000 has been created. He said, however, it is <br />anticipated that the expected $35,000 from the GTE easement in Dos <br />Vientos will be used to cover the deficit. <br />He reviewed the agreement between the District and Hillcrest Christian <br />school, relative to the .2 -acre addition to Estella Park, and noted that for the <br />next two years the site will be open to the public on weekends and after <br />3:30 p.m., and available to the public full time after the two-year period. <br />Relative to Conejo Creek Northwest Quadrant, he said that negotiations are <br />still underway to resolve conditions identified by the City of Thousand Oaks <br />involving street improvements. <br />Regarding Kimber Park, he said that staff continues to work with Teri <br />McLaughlin and other interested homeowners, their efforts, to date, have <br />resulted in approximately $40,000 of in-kind labor and materials, and it is <br />expected that all electrical services and landscape design drawings, valued <br />at $30,000, will be donated to the District without charge. <br />Continuing, he said that Operating Engineers has tentatively decided to <br />construct the entire Dos Vientos Community Park, the fall of 2000 is the <br />expected opening date, and the site will include a community center, tennis, <br />basketball and volleyball courts, five baseball fields, of which three will be <br />lighted, and overlayed with soccer fields. <br />
