DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Park Division Report <br />Sorensen reported that Conejo Valley Little League is erecting two batting <br />cages at Fiore Playfields, the labor force is composed of both volunteers and <br />supervised inmates, and some trees were lost due to the recent high winds. <br />He said that an activist animal rescue group has contacted staff regarding the <br />practice of poisoning squirrels, alternate methods are being investigated. In <br />response to Holt's inquiry, Sorensen said that squirrels create erosion and <br />safety problems. <br />In response to Berger's inquiry, Sorensen said that the Fiore Playfields sign <br />will be repaired within 30 days, and Hillcrest Center signage is under <br />construction. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Scott reported that both the Teen and Goebel Centers hosted very <br />successful New Year's Eve Dances, the winter classes and programs begin <br />Monday, and due to internet registration, this year's winter registration <br />revenue is double that of last year's figures. She said that CRPD and the <br />Arts Council of the Conejo Valley will present artwork of noted western artist <br />Robert L. Rickards depicting the Lewis and Clark Expedition at Hillcrest <br />Center through February 28, and a public reception is scheduled for Sunday, <br />January 19. <br />Concluding, she noted that a retirement party is scheduled for Thursday, <br />January 23 for Goebel Senior Adult Center Supervisor Mark Schrock at the <br />center. <br />
