Park Division Report <br />Friedl reported that District fields sustained no major damage from the <br />recent rains; the Farland House roof suffered minor damage, but has been <br />repaired; the Thousand Oaks City Council has approved the Teen Center <br />expansion project; District staff, together with representatives of City of <br />Thousand Oaks (CTO) and Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD), <br />attended Standardized Emergency Management Systems (SEMS) training; <br />he participated in the Sycamore Canyon Advisory Committee meeting, it is <br />anticipated that recommendations will be forthcoming in spring, and the <br />Board will be kept informed; the library expansion project begins November <br />1; and information on the Oakbrook Regional Park Chumash Interpretive <br />Center will be presented at the next meeting. <br />Gibson stated that at the recent meeting of California Association of <br />Recreation and Park Districts (CARPD) which he attended, corporate <br />sponsorship of dog park amenities was discussed. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Wiley reported that several members of staff attended the National <br />Recreation and Park Association Conference (NRPA) in Reno, Nevada; <br />Halloween dances will be hosted by the Therapeutic Unit, Teen Center, and <br />Goebel Senior Adult Center and a Halloween skateboard contest will be <br />held at Borchard Skate Park; RSVP received a $5,000 donation from <br />Warner Pacific Insurance for the military project "Hugs from Home; and the <br />Holiday Craft Bazaar is scheduled for November 6 at Goebel Center. <br />Jacobsen stated his appreciation for the quality of performances at the <br />summer concert series. <br />C.
