August 5, 2004 <br />Page 4 <br />inquiry Friedl explained that the public hearing regarding Dog Park lighting, <br />involves the modification of a current development permit and the public <br />hearing could be handled either by administrative staff or by the Planning <br />Commission. Gibson referenced the Conejo Creek Park Master Plan and <br />stated that no promise was made relative to Dog Park lighting. <br />Holt requested that the creek at Conejo Community Center be cleaned prior <br />to concerts in the park. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Wiley reported that the Fall 2004 Recreation Program Guide was mailed to <br />District residents Thursday, July 29; Intemet and mail registration began <br />Tuesday, August 3, and continuous through August 23; the City of Thousand <br />Oaks along with MV Transportations will provide free shuttle service for <br />seniors to the concerts in the park August 15 and September 6; Greg Adams <br />will perform a jazz concert at the August 15 concert and Herman's Hermits <br />will perform September 6; the Teen Center "End of Summer" dance will be <br />held Saturday, August 14; the annual Goebel Senior Adult Center Labor Day <br />Breakfast will feature entertainment; and the community theatre group, The <br />Vagabond Players, will present the play Squabbles." Holt commented that <br />the shuttle for seniors to the concerts is a great idea.. <br />In response to Jacobsen's inquiry regarding an end of summer barbecue at <br />Rancho Conejo Playfields for the program participants of Conejo Creek <br />Condominiums, Wiley confirmed that there are several District activities held <br />at the complex. Jacobsen expressed interest in expanding this type of <br />program to other areas of the city, and the Board would be receptive to being <br />made aware of where there may be a need for a similar program. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda presented an update of the state budget situation. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl reported that staff is currently coordinating with COSCA on fire <br />management policies and practices. Report will be brought to COSCA and <br />CRPD Boards. Also, the District will be participating in an Environmental <br />Impact Statement review plan process that the National Park Service is <br />currently involved in and the District will benefit from information gained from <br />this review. <br />
