July 8, 2004 <br />Page 4 <br />Master Plan for the Stagecoach Inn; District staff signed letters of support <br />for four local sports organizations, relative to grant endowment <br />applications; and at the next Board meeting, operators of the Chumash <br />Interpretive Center will provide a presentation of the past year's activities. <br />In response to Board inquiries, Friedl said he believes that Little League <br />and others in the community understand that the District is doing its best to <br />meet the needs of the public, in spite of a difficult financial situation; and <br />the equestrian trail, which extends through Conejo Creek South, will be <br />open in August. <br />Holt thanked Friedl for meeting officials from the Historical Society, and <br />said the discussion was productive. <br />Gibson said that he had been a member of the Conejo Creek focus group, <br />and there was no firm commitment to not install lights. <br />Gibson asked that the Chumash Interpretative Center representatives be <br />cautioned to not use the presentation as a lobbying exercise, and he said <br />that the District should be vigilant on all issues affecting the cost of water. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Benton identified upcoming recreation events including the Hawaiian Party <br />and Dance (Therapeutic Unit) and Teen Dance (Teen Center), July 10; <br />Universal Studios Excursion (Teen Center) July 14; Opening Night "Pirates <br />of Penzance" July 16; "Riders of the Purple Sage" Concert in the Park <br />(Conejo Community Center), July 18; Hurricane Harbor Water Park <br />Excursion (Teen Center) and Deep Sea Fishing Excursion (Teen Center), <br />July 21; and Retirement Seminar (Goebel Senior Adult Center), July 22. <br />She presented an update of July 4 activities, including the Wildwood three- <br />mile hike, Pancake Breakfast, Adult Homerun Derby, Senior Homerun <br />Derby, Family Open Swim, Concert in the Park, and Fireworks Show. <br />C.
