July S, 2004 <br />Page 5 <br />will attend a concept meeting wan the City of Thousand Oaks, relative to <br />the proposed 50 meter pool at California Lutheran University; it is <br />anticipated that the next City Council meeting will include a proposal to <br />create a joint committee of City and District representatives to discuss <br />funding opportunities for recreation facilities; and he will attend a July 14 <br />meeting to clarify and discuss the draft of the Local Agency Formation <br />Commission (LAFCO) Municipal Service Review Questionnaire. <br />He noted the following upcoming events: La Fiesta del Triunfo Ball on July <br />17, a meeting on July 19 called by the Thousand Oaks Library Foundation, <br />relative to a proposed expansion of the Special Collections area of the <br />library, and a Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA) meeting <br />on July 14, at which time open space projects will be ranked. <br />Ward said that the District has taken on significant responsibility with <br />respect to ensuring that financial transactions associated with Mountains <br />Recreation and Conservation Authority (MRCA) are consistent with <br />fiduciary responsibilities enjoyed at the District, progress is being made, <br />and additional work remains, including a recruitment. <br />In response to Gibson's concern, Holt said that the proposed aquatic <br />facility at California Lutheran University will be state-of-the-art. <br />Lange congratulated Berger on his appointment as public member at large <br />of the MRCA governing board. <br />E. Directors' Reports <br />Lange reported that he attended the recent Ventura County Special <br />Districts Association (VCSDA) meeting, and was appointed to the website <br />committee to create a new website for the organization; and Ventura <br />County Organization of Governments (VCOG) is interested in getting <br />special districts more involved in county government and is inviting <br />representatives of cities and special districts to a meeting on December 2. <br />Berger stated that, due to budget cuts, MRCA has initiated parking fees <br />around selected developed park areas. <br />Holt noted the "Granny Family Science Night" at the Goebel Senior Adult <br />Center on July 22. <br />
