January 22, 2004 Page 4 11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS A. Park Division Report Friedl noted the Calleguas Creek Watershed Management Plan map and brochure. He reported that at Conejo Creek Norm a small fire just occurred behind Willow Bend, no structural damage has been reported, arson may be involved, and the glulam project is ahead of schedule. He displayed pictures of the play area. He said that staff is working on logistics and parking issues involving Conejo Valley Days, the Persian Festival, and an AYSO fund raiser. Concluding, he announced that Administrative Secretary Dvorkin is leaving the District, and will be succeeded by Aline Reynders on January 26. Gibson said that he has talked to a number of homeowners in the Signature Collection homes, who were unaware of Mr. Ed Charton's letter regarding the proposed Lang Ranch Community Park. In response to Gibson's inquiries, Friedi said that, although he contacted a staff person at Signature Homeowners Association, he has not been able to get clarification on the letter, and, relative to the operation of the Chumash Interpretive Center, he has met with representatives, and staff efforts continue toward identification of the strongest candidate for the task. Marchesano said that programming will not be effected by lighting upgrades at Borchard Park and Pepper Tree Play Field. B. Recreation Division Report Benton announced that Administrative Clerk Linda Hessman has been promoted to the position of Administrative Secretary for Recreation, and she highlighted Hessman's CRPD work experience. Continuing, Benton said that at the Teen Center a snowboard trip for forty 7t" through 12th graders is scheduled for January 26; and at Hillcrest Center for the Arts, the Cultural Unit will present two versions of the musical "Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs", one by the Young Artists Ensemble, and the other by the Young Artists Ensemble in conjunction with Conejo Theatre for Everyone.
