November 6, 2008
Page 3
B. Conejo Valley Unified School District Meadows Elementary and
University Elementary Public Notice Intention to Lease
Hare summarized the issue, including the sites, relevant District zones, area
parkland status, and potential uses. Concluding, he said that with sufficient
park acreage located within each site zone and area, additional parkland is
not required in accordance with the District Master Plan. Additionally, the
overall cost of the lease and subsequent staffing is much too great for
passive parkland and traditional community programming.
In response to Jacobsen's inquiry, Hare said that if no qualified offers are
received by the School District, partial site usage may be possible in the
future.
It was moved by Gibson, seconded by Holt, and carried 4-0 to take no
further action at this time to lease the Conejo Valley Unified School
District Meadows Elementary and University Elementary Schools.
C. Upgrade of New World Systems Software and Hardware
Lewanda provided a presentation, which summarized relevant background
information, problems and limitations of the current system, and compared
and contrasted the current and proposed system.
Segedie presented an overview of the advantages, efficiencies and
effectiveness of proposed system and latest applicable technology, further
identified and clarified the differences between the current and proposed
systems, and discussed security issues. He said Finance staff members
feel that the Logos.NET software would make their jobs more efficient
because of its Windows-based operation, and would facilitate interactions
with other employees, expand data accessibility, and assist with grant
preparation and project management.
Lewanda said that pricing is good, the District has a positive long-term
relationship with New World Systems, MRCA staff members are also eager
to upgrade to the Windows solution, MRCA will share the costs, and the
hardware will be housed at Hillcrest Center.
Gibson expressed support of the proposal.
