January 19, 2012
Page 4
A. Parks Division Report
Hare reported the rough grading at Dos Vientos Playfield is going very well. The
sports field light poles were ordered yesterday and should arrive in three to four
weeks.
Regarding Oakbrook Neighborhood Park and Rancho Conejo Playfield, Hare
spoke to SureTec's 3rd party consultant and has a meeting tentatively scheduled to
discuss next steps toward resolution of park improvement projects.
B. Recreation Division Report
Lindsey reported winter programs began this week. Brenda Coleman has been
chosen by the NRPA Committee to present a session on teen programming at their
annual convention in Anaheim.
C. Management Services Division Report
No Report. (Lewanda absent)
D. General Manager's Report
Friedl reported the COSCA Bridge near Santa Rosa Park has been named "Project
of the Year' by the American Public Works Association.
The City of Thousand Oaks did not receive the TIGER Grant (Rte. 101123
improvements), which had been supported by the District.
The next Board meeting will be a Strategic Planning session update — an informal
study session that will include planning for CRPD's 50th Anniversary celebration.
Friedl stated there will be a need for a closed session this evening.
E. Directors' Reports
Gibson reported the California Association of Recreation and Park Districts
(CARPD) Board met and finalized plans for the upcoming symposium in
Sacramento. He encouraged attendance at what promises to be a very worthwhile
event.
