October 3, 2013 <br />Page 4 <br />effort on the part of CARPD. It would be helpful for the District to reach out to <br />Senator Pavely and Assemblyman Gorell and their staff. <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Parks Division Report <br />Hare reported on the Solar Carport construction and installation and referenced <br />pictures he sent to Board members last week. The projects should be finished by <br />the end of October/beginning of November. There will also be three solar kiosks (at <br />all locations but Conejo Creek South) for informative purposes. This past Monday <br />Denise Johns, Park Planner, and Hare hosted a Dog Services Meeting at Hillcrest <br />Center. There were over 60 attendees. The meeting ran for approximately 90 <br />minutes; issues discussed included the existing dog park, expanding the dog park, <br />and revenue generation. Attendees were enthusiastic and passionate about dogs. <br />Hare took notes and will re -connect with the attendees in about a month. Formation <br />of a non-profit was suggested; one patron has already indicated an interest in <br />spearheading this project. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Lindsey referenced Recreation Highlights. The "Reign of Terror Haunted House" <br />begins tomorrow night. "Bark in the Park" is this Saturday from noon to 4.00 pm. An <br />after school program at the 850 Warwick Apartments will be commencing on October <br />7th. Homework assistance and "Fun Fridays" will be offered. The Friday program is <br />already full and about 30 children are signed up for the regular homework <br />assistance. <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />Lewanda reported the CRPD auditors completed their field work successfully. The <br />financial statements are scheduled to be presented to the Board in November. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl reported that Valley Wide Recreation and Park District won the election to <br />serve on the CAPRI Board. The District has been invited to be part of discussion <br />regarding athletic fields at CLU. There will be a preliminary meeting tomorrow <br />afternoon which Friedl will attend; the City has been invited. A meeting of the `Park <br />and Facilities Naming Committee" will be held next week in order to put a policy in <br />place for the Gratitude Circle. Friedl reminded the Board members of the party for <br />Dennis Gillette on October 218t. <br />
