February 6, 2014
Page 3
Friedl introduced the item. There is concern over the similarity of names between
Lang Ranch Neighborhood Park and Lang Ranch Community Park resulting in
confusion among some residents. The Park Naming Committee (Huffer and Jones)
met and reviewed a variety of names; preliminary guidelines were used. The
Committee came up with five names. Discussion ensued regarding the proffered
names. It was agreed that more research and vetting should be done before a
decision is made.
Clint Matkovich, Thousand Oaks, does not support using a spanish language name
for Lang Ranch Community Park due to Spanish/Chumash history.
It was moved by Huffer, seconded by Jones, and carried 5-0 to table
considering and discussing potential alternative names for Lang Ranch
Community Park and bring the item back to a future Board meeting.
10.
