February 6, 2414 <br />Page 4 <br />Friedl distributed CSDA Board Trustee Handbooks to Board members. Tim Hagel <br />has been named the new Police Chief for the City of Thousand Oaks. Friedl met <br />with the City Manager and representatives from a group interested in acquiring the <br />Hidden Valley Ranch property for $48 million. This property is outside city, CRPD <br />and COSCA jurisdiction. The CARPD Legislative Committee is meeting tomorrow; <br />Friedl will attend via conference call. The CTO City Council will meet on February <br />11th at CLU; the University will be hosting an open house an hour beforehand. <br />District staff will be on hand at the community pool offering tours and information. <br />District representatives have been invited to join a roundtable discussion of the <br />Quimby Act and the Thousand Oaks Blvd. Specific Plan "mixed use" development <br />objectives within the Plan Area. On February 1 Bth, senior District staff will attend an <br />all -day retreat at CSUCI to prepare for a strategic plan update and to discuss <br />District challenges and future opportunities. <br />E. Directors' Reports <br />Lange reported he was re-elected Chair of the MRCA and re-elected Vice Chair of <br />the SMMC Advisory Committee. As MRCA Chair, he writes a letter for each issue <br />of their newsletter, "Symbiosis." The winter edition will focus on drought and water <br />conservation. Lange solicited information from Friedl re: District water -saving <br />practices and has incorporated them into his letter. <br />Holt attended a "Conejo Coalition for Youth" meeting this past week; current <br />programs include "Reality Parties" to which parents are invited; students role-play to <br />help educate parents on the realities of current teen partying trends, including <br />concurrent alcohol and drug use. Additionally, a pilot Internship program is being <br />introduced. Twenty-five teens will be placed in different businesses and agencies <br />throughout the Conejo Valley for six weeks during the summer; the Coalition is <br />looking for companies or agencies willing to participate. <br />Gibson donated some archival materials from past District history to Friedl for <br />safekeeping. Gibson is the Chair of the AWAVC Symposium being held on April <br />24th from 8:00 am to 1:30 pm in Oxnard. CRPD is sponsoring the event; Board <br />members are encouraged to attend. <br />F_ Follow -Up Reports on Meetings/Conferences Attended <br />Lange thanked Friedl and all of the Board members for their attendance at the <br />VCSDA annual dinner meeting. <br />12. REQUEST FOR STATUS REPORTS AND ITEMS FOR SUBSEQUENT AGENDA <br />Chair Gibson reiterated that the VoIP phone service Item (913) and the Park Naming <br />
