Walnut Grove Therapeutic Riding Center We are now serving about 90 riders with disabilities each week at your Walnut Grove Equestrian center. 75% of our riders are children and the two biggest populations served are autism (35% of our riders) and cerebral palsy (16%); 25% of our riders are on scholarship paying as little as $0; hundreds of volunteers drawn from across the community continue to be the cornerstone of our ability to deliver service; and over 144,000 volunteer hours have been dedicated to our mission. Ride On remains the only nationally accredited Therapy Services program in all of Ventura County, as well as LA County. Ride On continues to plan for the future at Walnut Grove. Ride On has another 17 years on our Walnut Grove lease and a 20-year option behind that. Over those 37 years, we estimate can provide over 140,000 lesson and therapy treatments to individuals with disabilities in the Conejo Valley and we will inspire a stunning 350,000 hours of volunteer support. However, if we are to provide world-class service at WGE for the next 39 years we will need to make capital investments. The facilities at WGE were built in the 1970’s. Based on prior master planning efforts our current estimate is that WGE will require a $3 million investment split into two phases. This effort has been on hold for the last few years while we concentrate on Rancho Potrero. Several years ago, Ride On created our Comprehensive Sustainability Campaign precisely to ensure that we are able to provide generations of service to our communities. The overall campaign has components including the capital improvements at Walnut Grove and some further improvements to our San Fernando Valley ranch as well as investments to increase our operating reserve and pay off our site acquisition debt in Chatsworth. Ride On has raised $5.3 million of our $8 million goal. Rancho Potrero Community Equestrian Center 2024 will mark the third year of our newest CRPD partnership at Rancho Potrero. We have long believed that a public/nonprofit partnership is the single best way to leverage the unique capacities of Ride On and the CRPD Lesson Program: RPCEC offers beginning and intermediate English and western riding lessons to able-bodies and disabled individuals 4 days per week. The record rainfall impacted our programming early in the year however 1743 such lessons were given in 2023. CRPD Programming Partnership: RPCEC and District Staff have coordinated 47 separate horseback riding and horsemanship classes through a programming contract. We provided 5 weeks of Summer Camps which were extremely popular with all camps filling quickly with large wait lists.
