Programs <br />Doane identified topics for upcoming programs, including pain management, <br />stress reduction, placement of seniors in convalescent homes, sleep <br />disorders, astronomy, protecting one's social security number, allergies, and <br />the difference between wills and living trusts. <br />Boscia suggested that, in the future, copies of all such information be made <br />available to commissioners. <br />K. Historian <br />Doane thanked everyone for submitting copies of articles, and Schrock for <br />pictures, and said that all would be put in the archives. <br />L. Activity And Attendance Report - April 2002 <br />Schrock referenced the document, and noted that, in comparison to last <br />year's figures, both the number of activity units and the units of participation <br />increased. <br />M. Staff Reports <br />Schrock referenced the documentation, reviewed past and upcoming <br />programs, supplied supplemental information, answered questions, reported <br />on the attendance of many of the events, and noted that 80 attended the <br />Volunteer Recognition Luncheon, 125 attended the May 18 Thousand Oaks <br />50+ Dance Club, 90 attended the Senior of the Year Banquet, Elaine <br />Robinson was named Senior of the Year, and 20 attended Orientation for <br />Newcomers. He thanked Manninger and Courant for their help. <br />Boscia commended staff members for their efforts. <br />Schrock said that the Water Exercise and Lap Swimming program has <br />consistently been a popular senior program, it is again being presented at <br />Thousand Oaks High School and Newbury Park High School pools, and no <br />fee is charged_ <br />In response to Boscia's inquiry, Ward confirmed that a new YMCA is planned <br />for the Dos Vientos area, but said it will not be part of District operations. <br />
