Minutes 5-22-02
Page 7
6. ITEMS FOR SUBSEQUENT AGENDAS
In response to Boscia's inquiry, Hogg opined that because Commission
assets are significant and continue to grow, a greater share should be
returned to the seniors; since a large portion of those funds are derived from
bingo, perhaps consideration should be given to lowering the percentage that
is given to the Commission; the trip program does not lend itself as well to
such considerations; and a meeting should be called to discuss the topic
further. Giovenco noted that prizes such as daubers are frequently given to
bingo participants. Fiorita suggested that the topic be referred to the Budget
and Finance Committee, and Courant urged that excess Commission funds
be spent for the benefit of the center.
7. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION
A. Commission Concems
In response to Fiorita's inquiry, Schrock said that no money can be realized
by the Commission through an oven salvage process.
Fiorita requested that staff be reminded that free coffee be made available for
RSVP volunteers, Giovenco said that after the bingo break, excess coffee is
given away, Schrock said that Danielle of RSVP usually prepares coffee, and
Doane said that free coffee is usually available from SNACK.
Doane urged everyone to wear their Commission badge, and said that some
need badges and suggested that a committee be appointed to design new
badges for better readability.
Lawrence identified a sensitive bingo personnel situation that merited further
discussion, and Fiorita suggested the discussion be deferred to the next
Bingo Committee meeting.
Westland requested an update from the Bylaws Committee be presented at
the next meeting.
In response to Ossenkop's inquiry, Fiorita said that guests can address the
Commission during the Public Discussion portion of the agenda.
Manninger thanked all who worked on the roses in the center garden.
