Minutes 5-22-02
Page 5
G. Building and Grounds
Schrock stated it is expected that the expansion project will begin in October,
starting with the storage room and modifications to the outside steps; in the
meantime, consideration is being given to blocking the steps off; it is
expected that further information relative to mounting of bingo boards will be
brought to the Commission in June; and the City of Thousand Oaks is giving
thought to covering the outside benches, budget permitting.
H. Bingo
Giovenco reported that 1,609 bingo players attended 11 sessions from April
26 to May 21; revenue was $1,590; bingo coffee revenue was $852; bingo
operating expenses were $200.60; bingo coffee expenses were $42.99.
Boscia requested that, in the future, copies of bingo information be made
available to commissioners.
1. Bus Trips
Spatz referenced and supplemented the documentation, noted cancellations
and registration dates, answered questions, and said that net returns were as
follows: Laughlin -Ramada Express, $262.77; Italian Treasures, $351.80; and
Great Trains — Grand Canyon, $1,515.68.
She noted that cancellations included the L.A. Dodgers versus Toronto Blue
Jays game, plus trips to the Hudson Valley, Niagara Falls and Washington
D.C. and Newport Rhode Island, Boston and Cape Cod.
Ross and Spatz clarified that two future trips arranged through Fitzgerald
Company Tours were cancelled due to unresolved insurance issues, and
there will be further discussions relative to the subject in upcoming Trip
Committee meetings.
Boscia highlighted the Trip Committee meeting of May 2. She said that the
trip Refund Policy will continue to be discussed at the next meeting; the Trip
Committee is working closely with Spatz; and, relative to long trips, it was
decided to abide by the recommended fees suggested by the trip company.
