After much discussion and detailed <br />analysis, the Ad Hoc Committee came up with a prioritized list of potential pickleball <br />court sites. If approved, in spring of 2023, these priority locations will be placed in <br />the District's Ten -Year Capital Improvement Project Plan. Hare reviewed how this <br />list was formulated and shared pictures of each location with preliminary concept <br />plans. He stressed this project is not something that is anywhere near construction; <br />these plans are a long way from being realized. He expressed thanks to Holt and <br />Huffer for their participation on the Ad Hoc Committee, as well as to CRPD staff for <br />their time spent on this process. A timeline regarding any construction would depend <br />on the availability of funds for the project. <br />Public Speakers: <br />James Wall, Thousand Oaks, is against the construction of pickleball courts and <br />believes they will alter a park's characteristics. <br />Herb Chick, Westlake Village, is opposed to more pickleball courts and believes it <br />will negatively affect the tennis -playing community. <br />Judy Grund, Thousand Oaks, expressed concern specifically regarding added <br />courts at Rancho Conejo and has safety concerns over an added parking lot and <br />traffic issues. <br />Kathrin Nolan, Thousand Oaks, President of the Ventura County Pickleball Club, is <br />in favor of additional pickleball courts and believes there is a definite need for them. <br />She thinks Rancho Conejo is the best location choice. <br />Susan Emerson, Westlake Village, opposes building pickleball courts at Triunfo <br />Community Park. She stated it would change the atmosphere of the park and would <br />result in noise issues. <br />Emma Howells, Westlake Village, is against building pickleball courts at Triunfo <br />Community Park. Among other concerns, she stated there would be noise issues <br />that would discourage the wildlife surrounding the park. <br />Diane Birchman, Thousand Oaks, believes Oakbrook Neighborhood Park should be <br />moved to the number one priority spot. <br />
