Seeing how mental health challenges are impacting the patrons as they return to programs. How
we need to incorporate how to deal with challenging mental health challenges in staff training.
When you thought three months of summer camps was exhausting and challenging, try 15
straight months of camps incorporating school days into it.
Getting all new staff during a pandemic and then realizing no one has ever seen the programs
pre -pandemic when your registrants rely on familiarity, routine, and consistency.
Zoom meetings, social distancing, mask wearing and the inability to hug family members and
friends.
Getting wireless providers to remove portable generators dropped off on CRPD property without
permission.
The return of concerts in the park; smiling faces, dancing, community -building, and a new
addition of food trucks.
Increased summer programming, even over prior non-COVID years, with eight CRPD-led clubs
all summer long, plus newly added specialty clubs.
Developed new partnerships and relationships, added new contract instructors and diversified
class offerings.
One special moment came when staff participated in the CPRS District training. We felt great
pride when they announced that CRPD won an award for extraordinary service during the
pandemic, and our Conejo staff had participated in every area they highlighted.
Reopening McCrea Ranch after a year and a half closure and being welcomed back by the
community to multiple sold -out events, as well as hosting a full wedding with only two -weeks
notice due to the relaxation of some COVID restrictions.
Increased the number of participants at all summer camps over the prior year, and held
successful summer camps in spite of constantly changing COVID restrictions.
Expanded our Unplug event which was so critical during this time that students and employees
were required to be in distance learning or zoom meetings for hours on end each day.
• Borchard's program attendance and revenue numbers returned to (and exceeded)Pre-Covid
numbers
We teamed up with AmeriCorps and Cal Lutheran University to continue offering and expand
outreach and tutoring programs at Conejo Creek and Warwick.
We've resumed work on the skatepark expansion project and have just received preliminary
designs from SoCal Skateparks.
