••- 7, 2021
Page 3
D. Recreation Highlights
11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS
A. Parks Division Report
Hare reported the Dog Park Ribbon Cutting will be on Saturday, October 23rd at 9:00am;
the park will reopen on Monday, October 18th. The Conejo Creek Southwest (CCSW)
groundbreaking will also be on Saturday October 23rd at 1 1:00am with lunch provided by
the Kiwanis Club of Thousand Oaks. There was a pre -construction meeting at CCSW
with the contractor this morning; they are ready to go, and work will likely begin on
October 25th. Staff is conducting some neighborhood meetings at Lynn Oaks
Neighborhood Park; the property is being leased by CVUSD. There are four vacant
acres and staff is seeking feedback from neighbors on possible uses. Although there is
no money budgeted for this project, having a project "shelf -ready" would be nice to have
for when the funds become available, similar to what was done at Banyan Park. So far,
meetings are set for Wednesday, October 20that6:00pm and Saturday, October 23rd at
1:30pm; Board members are welcome to attend The Rancho Potrero Area #1 project is
about halfway done. It's going well and should be completed in late November. Hare
reminded Board members this project is being funded by a grant from the Santa Monica
Mountains Conservancy. A grand opening will likely be held in early 2022. There was a
job walk for the Teen and Goebel Adult Community Center Project re -bid (which was not
mandatory for previous bidders.) An additional six or seven new companies were
represented (about 23 came to the initial job walk and there were seven bids.) Hare
hopes to bring an award recommendation to the Board on November 4th. For the Conejo
Community Center project, the hope is to go to the Planning Commission this fall;
therefore, a 4' by 8' foot sign is on site with a notice of the hearing; it will be removed
after the hearing has occurred. On Saturday, November 13th, there will be a cornhole
tournament — CRPD vs. CVUSD at Sapwi Trails Community Park. It will be a round robin
and Board members are encouraged to participate. The Board can expect to receive
an email from Hare with more details.
B. Recreation Division Report
Callis reported that Recreation Coordinator Megan McDonough has been selected to
serve on the City of Thousand Oaks "Arts and Cultural Roundtable," which will begin
to advise the Thousand Oaks City Council on important matters of art and culture
throughout the community. Two new Youth Outreach Workers have been hired - Luis
Sanchez and Cristal Rodriguez. The Arts Council of the Conejo Valley (ACCV) has
been undergoing some changes; CRPD will now be administering the Elementary
Music Program. ACCV will continue to handle the donations and funding for the
Summer Concert Series. The Young Artists Ensemble (YAE) is looking to work with
"TO Arts" to fundraise and apply for grants. ACCV "Hillcrest Presents," which offers a
variety of shows, is now headed up by CRPD and run by CRPD staff. America Nava,
