August 26, 2021
Page 5
A. Parks Division Report
Hare reported on the upcoming potential drought; he will provide a more
comprehensive report in October but stated that the area only received .89 inches
of rain last fiscal year. Hare reviewed the area's drought history over the past few
years and the efforts CRPD has taken to combat the drought, along with mitigations
put into place by the state, the county, and the Metropolitan Water District. The
Governor has declared a drought emergency in a number of counties, but not
Ventura County, as yet. CRPD staff will continue to work closely with the City of
Thousand Oaks and local water purveyors to conserve water as much as possible.
Callis reported on the enrollment and number of classes figures for this summer;
2021 is at 75% of the same time period in 2019 (pre-COVI D.) She shared photos
from the "Great Conejo Campout" held at Dos Vientos Community Center and
presented a video of "Ogre Hunting" from the Wildwood Day Camp.
CPRS/District 8 has awarded CRPD with the "Adapting to the Challenges of
Covid-1 9" Award. Board members thanked Callis for the amazing "Touch -A -
Truck Parade," which was a resounding success.
C. Management Services Division Report
Regarding earlier questions about the Budget Performance Report, Smith reported
that revenue numbers do include the assumed use of Fund Balance; the great news
on the General Fund is that the amount anticipated to be used due to COVID
reductions and revenue was less than expected, thanks to the Recreation Staff for
staying under their expense budgets and overperforming on the revenue side.
D. General Manager's Report
Friedl reported the last couple of weeks were very busy with many committee
meetings and one -on -ones with Board members. Summer programming has
wound down; a big shout out to the Recreation staff for keeping everything going.
Friedl is going to the California Special Districts Association (CSDA) Annual
Conference next week and then he will be on vacation the following week. Hare
will be absent as well. Callis will be Acting GM.
IN : I 1 11111111
411111 1714 -341 1 ill I
TM
