Recreation Division Highlights Page 3 of 5 Revised 01.2021
Dos Vientos Community Center
QuaranTEAM Care
Our Dos Vientos team has been consistently providing safe, fun, and enriching programming throughout this pandemic, most
notably with QuaranTEAM. The Monday-Friday mornings and Tuesday/Thursday afternoons have been active since the program
started last year and continues to run strong today. Participants enjoy weekly themes and participate in craft, games, and activities
focused on those themes, all while maintaining COVID-19 prevention guidelines. The kids have enjoyed it so much that most
of the participants continue to sign up month after month.
Safe Passage Youth Foundation
Our Safe Passage kids enjoyed an incredible holiday thanks to the generous outpouring of love
and support from many organizations and individuals throughout our community! Toys were distributed to hundreds of children throughout the 850 Warwick apartments, Conejo Creek
condominiums, and Las Casitas neighborhood. Toys were generously donated by members of our
community as well as Hollywood Storage (with the help and coordination of Tom Hare).
Volunteers wrapped, the Teen Club sorted, and the Thousand Oaks Police Department distributed
gifts. The kids were overjoyed and incredibly appreciative of their gifts and the entire community
lifting them up. These are just a few of the unique and impactful stories from this experience:
• A supporter used their social media platform to run a toy drive.
• One donor solicited the help of friends and family to pool resources and spent an entire
day driving to pick-up special gifts.
• Another contributor asked for donations to Safe Passage for their birthday and spent their
special day shopping and delivering toys.
Leftover toys were donated to Casa Pacifica, who served the needs of more than 80 families.
