Approval of Warrants <br />Accounts Payable Check Registers Total $564,868.25 <br />Payroll $825,000.00 <br />It was moved by Lange, seconded by Holt, and carried 5-0 to approve the <br />consent calendar as presented. <br />7. DEFERRED MATTERS <br />8. ITEMS FOR DISCUSSION <br />Regulating Smoking in Parks <br />Friedl is looking for direction from the Board before bringing presenting this to the Board as <br />an action item, including whether vaping should be a part of the suggested ban. District <br />ordinance currently prohibits smoking within 25 feet of a playground, at all youth sports <br />events, and in open space. Discussion ensued including what enforcement and signage <br />would be necessary. Friedl will investigate what other local Park Districts are doing. Many <br />cities have banned smoking, including in their parks. Friedl will bring this back to the Board <br />as an action item and will include vaping as part of the suggested ban. <br />9. NEW ITEMS <br />A. Selection of Chair and Vice Chair <br />Friedl stated that, traditionally, the selection of Chair and Vice Chair is done in <br />December. <br />It was moved by Holt and seconded by Nickles to nominate Lange to serve <br />as Chair. It was unanimously agreed upon to close the nominations. The <br />election of Lange as Chair was approved by a vote of 5-0. <br />Lange assumed the position of Chair. <br />Friedl thanked Chair Huffer for all his efforts during 2019 and presented him with <br />some tokens of appreciation from the District. Huffer thanked the Board for their <br />support during the year; Board members thanked Huffer for his service. <br />
