February 1, 2017 <br />Page 3 <br />11. DEPARTMENT REPORTS <br />A. Parks Division Report <br />Hare reported the Banyan Neighborhood Park ribbon cutting is scheduled for <br />February 24th at 10:00 am; he is expecting good participation from the Banyan <br />Elementary School community. This Saturday, February 3rd, is the Dos <br />Vientos Ribbon Cutting at 10:00 am. <br />B. Recreation Division Report <br />Calais reported the Therapeutics Recreation Unit is preparing for the "Conejo <br />Theater for Everyone" performance of Madagascar, to be held at the end of <br />this month, involving 12 individuals with disabilities; this is double the number <br />of performers who participated last year. Proceeds from the "Reign of Terror" <br />help to support this effort. Hillcrest Center for the Arts' YA4Ever show <br />"Heathers: The Musical" recently sold out. The Conejo Senior Volunteer <br />Program has over 45 volunteers (including Director Huffer) donating their time <br />assisting seniors with tax return preparations from February Stn to April 16tH <br />The Outdoor Unit is sponsoring a Valentine's Day hike. There will be a special <br />flyover at the Memorial Day Concert in the Park, which Director Lange is <br />helping to facilitate. Regarding the Persian New Year, Callis reminded the <br />Board that the event has grown too large for the space available and that a <br />decision has been made to reduce the scope of the event this year; a <br />kickoff/prep meeting to discuss the event and consider various modifications <br />will be held on February Stn <br />C. Management Services Division Report <br />No report. <br />D. General Manager's Report <br />Friedl reported on his attendance at the January 2151 Westlake Village <br />Community Park Dedication; CRPD is interested in connecting an open space <br />trail (Bowfield Trail) down into that park. CRPD hosted a Non -Profit <br />Leadership Forum on Tuesday, January 23rd; 16 of the 20 non -profits invited <br />were represented. Friedl met recently with former pro -volleyball players who <br />are interested in having more equitable access to the District's sand volleyball <br />courts; these courts are currently non -reservable; staff is looking at the <br />possibility of creating a permit system. The City of Thousand Oaks will be <br />celebrating Arbor Earth Day this year; however, they will follow a different <br />format. Callis and her staff are reviewing the findings from the Therapeutics <br />Needs Assessment, which was presented to the Board of Directors by John <br />
