Rochelle Callis
CRPD Therapeutic Recreation Program Final Report and Recommendations
September 8, 2017 page 30
who conduct programs for adults with disabilities. This person can be a current employee
or a recruited employee. Assign this employee the task of identifying and reaching out to
families of children with disabilities. Make this a full time benefitted position.
PROJECTED FiSCAL IMPACT. the District, if it pursues this, must make the position fit within its
human resources classifications. We project fiscal impact, with benefits, at $65,000 annually.
D. Retain the position of Therapeutic Recreation Supervisor, making this person responsible
for the work of the two coordinators and the Manager of Inclusion (the title should fit into
the CRPD lexicon).
PROJECTED FISCAL IMPACT. there is no fiscal impact.
E. Consider an alternative here, naming the current supervisor as the Manager of Inclusion
and Therapeutic Recreation, overseeing three employees as identified above.
PROJECTED FISCAL IMPACT: there is likely no fiscal impact.
10. As discussed earlier, consistency of staff that provide Therapeutic Recreation Programs has an
outsized value in comparison to recreation for people without disabilities. We urge the District
to add two `legacy" level employees to the Therapeutic Recreation Program. Assign one to
programs for children, and one to programs for adults.
PROJECTED FISCAL IMPACT: the District, if it pursues this, must make these positions fit within
its human resources classifications. We project fiscal impact, with benefits, at $40,000 annually.
11. Aside from these human resources changes, increase the Therapeutic Recreation budget
annually by 20% for the next three years. Do apply metrics for accountability, including
increased programs offered and increased participation.
PROJECTED FISCAL IMPACT: we project fiscal impact at approximately $80,000 annually far a
three-year span.
12. For 2017-2018, adopt a policy requiring CRPD facilities to hold 5% of program space hours for
use by the Therapeutic Recreation Program, at no charge to the Therapeutic Recreation
Program. This nominal amount of hours will not interfere with the growth of other programs,
and will allow the Therapeutic Recreation Program to add new programs, extend current
sessions, or extend the length of current programs. Do take steps to assure that some, not all,
of those held hours are prime time hours.
THE W -T GRO
DBA RECREATION ACCESSIBILITY CONSUL%TI
ONE SOURCE. INFINITE SOLUTIONS
