That inconsistency is a sign that District staffs handle some
requests for modifications improperly.
PROJECTED FiSCAL IMPACT: training costs money. In the interim while a JPA is considered, increase staff support the following ways (these are
ordered by priority):
A. Create, recruit, and hire a Coordinator of Inclusion, credentialed as a RTC, who will be
responsible for assessments, training of District program and facility staffs, recruitment and
training of inclusion aides, development of behavior plans, and related tasks regarding
requests for modifications in CRPD programs. This person can be a current employee or
recruited employee. Assign outreach to this position while inclusion demand is not yet
occupying 100% of the time of the employee. The advantages here are that Therapeutic Recreation staff and Inclusion staff
can easily share information, resources, and coordinate the use of part-time employees.
Z) The District can also choose to have this person as a staff operating outside of the
special unit Therapeutic Recreation Program. The advantages here are a complete
understanding of the programs and facilities provided for persons without disabilities.
PROJECTED FISCAL IMPACT. the District, if it pursues this, must make the position fit within its
human resources classifications. We project fiscal impact, with benefits, at $85,000 annually.
B. Create a Therapeutic Recreation Coordinator of Children's Programs, credentialed as a RTC
or CTRS, who will be responsible for planning, promoting, and supervising the seasonal
staffs who conduct programs for children with disabilities. This person can be a current
employee or a recruited employee.
Assign this employee the task of identifying and reaching out to families of children with
disabilities.
