CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 17, 1998 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />GOEBEL SENIOR ADULT CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Lange called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m., and Holt led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen, and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Jorgensen, Sorensen, and <br />Washington, Recreation Supervisor Schrock, RSVP Director Danielle, and <br />Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />RSVP Presentation - Louise Danielle <br />Schrock introduced Danielle who presented an overview of RSVP (Retired and <br />Senior Volunteer Program) and highlights from 1998. She noted that 1,100 RSVP <br />volunteers served 140 nonprofit agencies and contributed 206,000 volunteer hours <br />to the community She introduced Joel Hockman, of the VIP (Volunteers In <br />Policing) program. <br />Hockman discussed the VIP program, which he described as a community based <br />approach to policing. He praised the contribution of the senior volunteers to the <br />program and cited examples of jobs performed. He said that, although only a <br />third of the 87 VIP volunteers are RSVP members, the RSVP members do a <br />preponderance of the volunteer work. He answered questions. <br />Board members expressed appreciation for the RSVP and VIP programs and <br />thanked Danielle and Hockman for their efforts. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />
