CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />JULY 19, 2001 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />GOEBEL SENIOR ADULT CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Gibson called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m., and Jacobsen led the flag <br />salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, and Jacobsen <br />Berger arrived at 7:35 p.m. <br />Directors Absent: Lange <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Administrators Benton, Jorgensen, and <br />Sorensen, and Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Sharon Noel stated she was a member of the Conejo Creek focus group, and she is <br />concerned that there is not adequate equestrian access from Calle Camelia to the <br />neighborhood park planned for the north side of Avenida de Las Flores. <br />Sorensen suggested that Noel contact staff to discuss and clarify the issue. <br />Barbara Kloster stated she also was a member of the Conejo Creek Park focus <br />group, and she is concerned that runners and joggers are using the Waverly <br />equestrian facility to the detriment and danger of the equestrians, and she urged <br />that the issue be agendized. <br />In response to Board inquiries, Benton stated that staff has met with the president of <br />Equestrian Trails Incorporated {ETI} to discuss an appropriate compromise, staff has <br />observed no major problems, for the past six years Thousand Oaks High School has <br />occasionally used the site for its cross country team, and staff is investigating other <br />sites for their use. <br />
