CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS REGULAR MEETING <br />DECEMBER 18, 2003 <br />7:30 P.M. <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Chair Lange called the meeting to order at 7:31 p.m., and Jorgensen and Sorensen <br />led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Berger, Gibson, Holt, Jacobsen and Lange <br />Directors Absent: None <br />Staff Present: General Manager Ward, Assistant General Managers Friedl and <br />Sorensen, Administrators Jorgensen and Benton, Senior Park Planner Pluth and <br />Executive Secretary Ohren <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />City Of Westlake Village Mayor Robert Slavin - Presentation <br />Due to the illness of Robert Slavin, Mayor, City Of Westlake Village, Council <br />Member Philippa Klessig presented a plaque to Lange in honor of the District's <br />40th anniversary. She thanked the District for all its efforts for the good of the <br />greater community, and said that the City of Westlake Village looks forward to <br />exploring more ways the two local entities can work together. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Nick 4uidwai, Thousand Oaks, said the District is doing a wonderful job, and he <br />suggested that a presentation of the Youth Outreach Program be made to the <br />Conejo Valley Unified School District to further understanding. He said that there <br />has been a lack of communication with, and recognition of, citizens involved in <br />CSAPA (Conejo Substance Abuse Prevention Authority). He commended Karen <br />Lindsey her professionalism. He recommended that a canopy for shade is needed <br />at Newbury Gateway Park. <br />
