9conemo <br />Recreation &Par---- -k District Recreation &Community Services <br />Recreation Division Highlights <br />Thursday, November 30, 2023 <br />Aquatic Recreation <br />Polar Bear Plunge <br />December 30 marks the last Aquatic event of the year, with <br />the annual Polar Bear Plunge. The participants will start with <br />a 1.5 -mile hike up Mountclef Ridge and end with a chilling <br />plunge in the Community Pool at CLU, of which the water <br />temperature will be as low as 73 degrees. Participants can <br />enjoy light refreshments and will receive a commemorative <br />token of completion, as well as take family photos with the <br />Community Pool's resident Polar Bear. <br />Thousand Oaks Community Center <br />Kids Swap Meet <br />The Thousand Oaks Center recently held our annual Kids <br />Swap Meet on November 18.' We had over 60 vendors <br />selling a variety of kid's items like clothing, toys, furniture, <br />art and craft supplies, movies, and more. Patrons came <br />from near and far just to shop; during the event we spoke <br />with people that came from Santa Monica and Ventura! <br />Ladera Stars Academy <br />PO -LAR <br />BEAR <br />PLUNGE . <br />SATURDAY <br />DECEMBER30 <br />q�00-11 00 AM <br />r- <br />-01 <br />1&� <br />z ti r r <br />elk *6 <br />We are nearing the end of a new collaboration with 1 <br />Ladera Stars Academy Sports Program for TK and K. Our <br />recreation leader, Sean has been going to the school every Monday for 3 hours to lead some fun and active <br />games for the kids, promoting exercise and teamwork! The kids, teachers, and office staff have all been so <br />happy with the program and look forward to offering the program in January. <br />Borchard Community Center <br />Fireside Concerts <br />On Friday, November 17 Borchard Center hosted <br />its Fireside Concert Series. 59 patrons were in <br />attendance and enjoyed two fine entertainers. Men of <br />Worth performing Celtic songs with various traditional <br />instruments and The MacMammals are known for their <br />music weaving historical tales with folklore and humor <br />from heartfelt ballads to rousing sea shanties.
