CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
REGULAR MEETING
February 4, 2021
6:00 PM
HILLCREST CENTER
M I N U T E S
Nickles called the meeting to order at 6:01 pm and Segedie led the flag salute.
Directors Present: Cusworth, Holt, Huffer, Lange, Nickles
Directors Absent:
Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Callis, Hare and Smith, IT
Manager Segedie and Executive Assistant Reynders,
Art, Education, History and Supporting Programming and Community Partnerships
in CRPD Parks and Facilities
Friedl referred to the November meeting of the newly formed Art Ad Hoc Committee
(Cusworth and Holt) as a precursor to Hare's presentation this evening. Hare provided
examples, specifically those at Hillcrest Center, including Parker the rabbit found at the
entrance to the building, the art gallery in the lobby, and the podium used at the Board
meetings - art is everywhere! He reviewed the process used to incorporate art and cited
McCrea Ranch as an example. It is often a community -driven effort; art can be found in the
District's special facilities, parks, playgrounds, and in supporting programming. Staff is
committed to continuing to look for new ways to incorporate art, education and history as
time goes on. Hare answered Board member's questions and was thanked for his
informative and enthusiastic presentation.
It was moved by Holt, seconded by Huffer, and carried 5-0 to approve the agenda as
presented.
•III` ;i -- 11llll :4 61,11
