CONEJO RECREATION AND PARK DISTRICT <br />BOARD OF DIRECTORS <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />April 18, 2019 <br />7:00 PM <br />HILLCREST CENTER <br />MINUTES <br />1. CALL TO ORDER AND FLAG SALUTE <br />Huffer called the meeting to order at 7:01 p.m. and Friedl led the flag salute. <br />2. ROLL CALL <br />Directors Present: Cusworth, Huffer, Lange, Nickles <br />Directors Absent: Holt <br />Staff Present: General Manager Friedl, Administrators Hare and Lewanda, <br />Recreatio* Services Manager Duerr, Executive Assistant Reynders <br />(Holt arrived 7:05 pm) <br />3. SPECIAL PRESENTATIONS <br />Thousand Oaks Community Center — Recess Programs <br />Melissa Nesbitt, Recreation Supervisor, and America Nava, Recreation Coordinator, Thousand <br />Oaks Community Center, provided an overview and highlights of the Recess Programs at eight <br />area Conejo Valley Unified School District (CVUSD) schools; the program had its beginnings at <br />Weathersfield Elementary School. An average of 40 children participate during each recess <br />period. This program is one way of strengthening the partnership between CRPD and CVUSD, <br />as well as providing a vehicle to promote CRPD programs to a larger audience. Nesbitt shared <br />a slide show highlighting photos of the various schools and the activities offered. <br />Board members' questions were answered and Nesbitt and Nava were thanked for their <br />informative presentation. <br />4. ITEMS FROM THE PUBLIC <br />Danielle Welch expressed concern over the language barrier facing families who might like to <br />apply for financial assistance so as to attend CRPD programs, primarily due to the District's <br />current application requirements. <br />5. APPROVAL OF AGENDA <br />It was moved by Lange, seconded by Holt, and carried 5-0 to approve the agenda as <br />presented. <br />
